Our client is a boutique fund manager specialising in emerging markets. The firm is head-quartered in London and targets institutional investors in the UK and worldwide.
ITD UK were engaged to carry out an audit of the existing IT provision and ultimately to take on all support services. We now provide the client with daily service desk support, as well as proactively monitoring their hardware and software to detect and resolve problems as they arise.
The Challenge
Our client was unhappy with the service provided by their existing outsourced IT provider and wanted to identify areas for service improvement and cost savings.
Particular areas of concern were the management of physical and logical access controls and the disaster recovery procedure
Our Approach
• ITD first carried out a wide-ranging audit of the existing IT provision. We reviewed the current service, looking at support provision, IT and communications infrastructure, software licensing, hardware, physical access to systems, cabling, security, data protection systems and business continuity planning. We then assessed the business needs of our client to see whether the service was fit for purpose.
• We presented our findings, making a number of key recommendations. We also reviewed the service level agreements (SLAs) and proposed improvements to make the client's disaster recovery plans more robust.
• We were then asked to provide a proposal to run the firm's IT support services. We tailored our proposed support plan to the client's business needs and included a comprehensive plan for daily remote support, monthly site visits and emergency callouts.
The Results
ITD were engaged to provide IT Support for the firm. Alongside our service desk and onsite support services we proactively monitor the server, backup process and anti-virus protection. We provide regular management information and account management meetings to keep the client up to speed on any issues which might arise. Regular testing of the disaster recovery plans and security systems ensures increased reliability and peace of mind.
With our IT support service in place, the client has no need to set up or maintain an expensive in-house IT team. They also benefit from our expertise in the procurement and installation of hardware and communications systems.
